Day 1
Arrival at Thiruvananthapuram

The capital of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) is the best place to start your 10-day trip in the state. Referred to as the evergreen city of India by Mahatma Gandhi, the city is home to some of the biggest tourist attractions in the state. Upon arriving at Trivandrum, rent a car and travel to the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the richest Hindu temple in the world. Once you are done with the darshan, head to the Thiruvananthapuram Zoo where you can see 82 different species of Flora and Fauna. With 55 acres of land at the center of the city, the well planned zoo has a Botanical Garden and a Reptile house within it. When your visit to the Zoo is complete, head towards your hotel in Kovalam (16km away), where you can have a relaxing evening by the beach before your travel starts again.

Day 2
Spend a day at Kovalam beach

With opportunities for water sports like Kayaking, Surfing and Water Skiing, there is a lot to do on this beach. Make sure you visit the Vizinjham Marine Aquarium that has perfected the Image Pearl production technique. Every two three months a perfect mould of a pearl can be seen completely formed in the aquarium. Don’t forget to enjoy the delicious sea food available at the resorts on Kovalam beach and visit the Lighthouse. If you feel the need to get rid of all your stress before you head out further in your trip, try an Ayurvedic massage.

Day 3
Drive down to Alappuzha (159kms)

A town famous for its house boats, Alleppey, as it is also called, has many sights for you to see. It is believed that Christianity was brought to India from this town in Kerala when Thomas, the apostle, reached this land. While in Alleppey, visit the Krishnapuram Palace Museum that was once the residence of the Kayamkulam kingdom. With its narrow corridors and the Gajendra Moksham, that is the largest band of Mural paintings discovered in Kerala so far, the temple is one you shouldn’t miss out on your trip. Next, head towards the Ambalappuzha Sri Krishna Temple, famous for its Palpayasam (rice cooked in milk, sweet). The temple is one of the most famous temples in Kerala.

Day 4
Check in to a Houseboat

A trip to Alappuzha can never be complete without a night on a houseboat. On the back waters of this little town, a night in a houseboat is one of the most beautiful experiences Kerala has to offer you. Choose from a variety of different houseboats from AC and Non-AC to the number of bedrooms.

Day 5
Head towards Thekkady (129kms)

While it might be the hardest thing to do, check out of the houseboat and head to the next place on your list Thekkady. Upon your arrival at Thekkady, make sure you find out the timings of a Kathakali show in the area and don’t miss it. While waiting for the show, treat yourself to another Ayurvedic massage that will release all the stress and fatigue out of your body. End your day with the Kathakali show and get a good nights rest before your day begins.

Day 6
Go sightseeing in Thekkady

With one of the largest wildlife reserves, Periyar National Park and Wildlife Reserve, in India located here, there is no way you can miss out on an opportunity to visit. Located on the banks of the Periyarlake, the national park and wildlife reserve has opportunities for both a boat ride and an elephant safari. Make sure you do both. The elephant ride will take you through some fun activities like the elephant bath.

Day 7
Head towards Munnar (86kms)

On your drive towards this town in Kerala, the narrow roads, the fragrance of the tea estates and the greenery will give you a deeper understanding into why Kerala is known as God’s own country. The tremendous beauty itself will make you never want to leave. While on the way to Munnar, make sure you stop at the Periyarkanl Waterfalls, the Lockhart Gap view point and the coffee and tea plantations. Check into your hotel in Munnar and spend a relaxing evening there. Some hotels are ever willing to start up a bon fire and make sure you have a great evening.

Day 8
Go sightseeing in Munnar

There are many beautiful things to do in Munnar. From the elephant rides to the tea museum, you must do it all. Spend the day visiting the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, the Rajamala Wildlife Sanctuary, the KananDevan Tea Museum and the Kurinjimala Sanctuary. While the elephant safaris are a little on the expensive side, the ride is definitely worth it. You don’t need to book ahead to visit these sights in Munnar.

Day 9
Head to Kochi

Ending your trip on a high note is one of the most important things. While it might be easy to plan out the rest of your trip, your last day is always the most difficult. If it goes well, you end your trip on a happier note, if it doesn’t, well, you might not return as happy. With this in mind, we decided to save the best for last and send you to an amusement park, because who doesn’t love amusement parks. Wonderla Amusement Park is where you will spend your last day in Kerala. From the water rides to the dry rides, you are not going to have as much fun anywhere else. From the wave pools to the thunder falls, the rides will give you just the adrenaline rush you need to end your trip on the highest note possible.

Day 10
Go sightseeing in Kochi

You’ve come to an end of your trip and while you might be a little disappointed, try taking a slightly later flight out. If you have the time, visit Fort Kochi (Ranbir Kapoor’s Maestro ad was shot here) and enjoy some authentic French cuisines at Koder House and spend some time relaxing on the beach. In case you’re looking for something more extravagant, visit the Old Bristo hotel or the Brunton Courtyard. On the way stop over at Mattancherry where you can visit a synagogue and pick up some antiques at Jew street. Make sure you visit the Mattancherry Palace as well and find out the history of Kerala written down on the walls on the palace. End your trip at Cherai Beach, the longest beach in Kerala, where you can finish a quick snack and head to the airport.
